Funny this question is still being asked decades after many claim it was resolved. Their are no Male/Female jobs just jobs suited to stronger bodies and those suited to keener minds. The line between genders is ever blurring making clear distinction only available by the gross characterizations represented by pop stars and rappers.

i do not comprehend that that is how ''Society translates'' what you're explaining the following in any respect! I even ought to say that I have under no circumstances ever considered there's a distinction interior the genders once you write > "understand men" vs. "understand females". To me it really is ''understand'' of or in direction of yet another human being ...regardless of their gender. i have yet to have a communicate with ''Society'' or listen speech given through it. ~ and that i'm no longer being flippant the following, I basically have not tackle what 'Society' absolutely thinks, basically what diverse segments of it look to say about it very much ~ many times with very much of self activity. Sash.

I grew up in the 50's. Just off the top of my head women were always; secretaries, stewardesses (flight attendants), nurses, teachers (just two male teachers in my grade school), food servers (waitresses, men only served food in very upscale restaurants), hair stylists. Men were always, doctors, pilots, lawyers, police, fire fighters. I am a baby-boomer, born in 1948 and have seen the most amazing changes in society and technology, including a growing equality in the workplace.
I believe that capability is the only criteria that should be a consideration.

I agree it's about capability, not gender. There's a certain kind of a guy who loves to bring up the idea of a woman applying for a firefighter job because this is one of the rare jobs that requires a minimum size and large amount of minimum strength. They say, "Why should women be allowed to do this if they are not capable of lifting the ladders or carrying people out of burning buildings?" Well, my answer is if they're not capable then they shouldn't be allowed to do it. But if they are women and they are capable of doing it, why shouldn't they?

No matter your sex, as long as your qualified. I hate it how they lower the standards so women can do the same job. Give us a chance, we might surprise you!
Good question!

Yes, I do believe there are jobs better suited for either men or women. For instance, would you rather have a 6'5" 270lb male babysitting your 5yr daughter, or a woman? Would you rather have a 5'5" 140lb woman attempting to save your unconscious full-grown brother from a fire, or a another full grown man? If your daughter has to, consistently, walk a dark alley home from work, would you rather that road be a female officer's beat, or a male's? Politically correct or not, there are jobs better suite for a specific sex.

Of course people should be allowed to do anything they want as long as they qualify for it and as long as they think that they have the ability.

So long as they are qualified for and capable of doing the job, then gender is really irrelevant.

I have better aim with a gun than my husband or brother-n-law, Which of us would you want to send into the woods for food? Which of us would you want to take a sniper shot at the guy holding a gun to your head?

I don't see a lot of women off-shore drillers? Or a lot of men in the Fredricks of Hollywood store?
