Any time a ball joint is replaced an alignment should be done. There are ways to get close on your own but close is all you get and tire wear will almost always result. Get the truck aligned

the explorer ball joint is usually replaced as a whole arm assembly and it needs the alignment as the whole assembly is the ball joint and the connecting metal which is where you adjust for alignment.
On others it's a good idea no matter what.

You can get the alignment checked for $50. You get the 50 back if they have to do the job. Sears is usually pretty honest about that.

you do not need an alignment unless there was an alignment issue to begin with. But you do need to set the toe.

technically no, the balljoint is not adjustable in any form, it only goes in one position, one location
dont worry about it, unless your tires start to wear incorrectly
good luck
