Cloning is creating a viable embryo that is an exact genetic copy of another animal (or plant?). In animals, cloning is usually done by harvesting unfertilized eggs from a female, extracting the DNA from an egg, and inserting the extracted DNA into another egg to substitute for fertilization. Cells other than eggs may also be used, but eggs are easiest to work with.
