my husband got a great job out of state. he's on probation and he dropped a dirty UA recently. his PO said she would not grant him a travel pass to go to his job, but he could move to the state. Well, he got denied to move from the state we would move to. Is there anything we can do so he can go. We really need this for our family. He's not a bad person, he just messed up. We want to move so that we can better our family and get away from the problems.

Stay off the drugs for a year and then try again, there will be other chances for jobs and if he has a drug problem then he needs to work on that first!!

Probation sounds like he did something and was sentenced to probation only. If that's true, and he's being supervised by the county: Follow the chain of command. The probation department will, no doubt have a manager. If you get stopped there, ask what the next step is.

If you mean parole and he had a bad drop... Good luck!

In either case, sit down and write a professional letter that pleads your need. Make some copies, you may have to appeal to a judge and they'll want to read something.

Honestly, no. There is nothing you can do. You can try to take it before the Judge who ordered the probation, but he or she will take the probation officer's recommendations 98% of the time. Even the probation officer's supervisor is going to feel the same way. I can only recommend to you that he remain clean and fulfill his obligations with the probation officer.

Sorry the news couldn't be better.

Good Luck and Take Care

I agree with GG above, I might like at add that when writing remind that in 12 step programs one of the things taught to recovering addicts is to change people, places, and things and remind them that this could well be a step toward the courts goal of rehabilitating him, which is normally the goal of a probation sentence

If the probation department where he is going to, will not accept him, there is little you can do.

NOT ONLY DID HE MESS UP BUT HE CONTINUOUSLY MESSES UP. ONCE THE STATE THAT YOU ARE TO MOVE TO SAYS NO YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO MAKE THEM CHANGE THEIR MIND. NO ONE WANTS CRIMINALS IN THEIR BACK YARD. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERY ONE THAT IS RELATED TO A CRIMINAL SAY HE'S A NICE GUY. BUT HE'S A BAD GUY WHEN HE'S COMMITTING CRIMES.
