It's part of the learning process. When you are first exposed to new material - you remember about 10% of what you hear. Homework is there to reinforce the concepts - to get you to learn the little details that the teacher doesn't have enough time to go over in lecture - and helps you with retention.

What teachers are going for is retention - not cramming for an exam and then forgetting what you just learned... because most of what we learn provides a basis for something else. Homework is an important part of that retention process, as is the lecture and reviewing for the exams.

Homework teaches discipline in how to budget your time and organize your work. It teaches you how to study independently. Better knuckle down, it isn't going to go away! Good luck.

to train your mind....if you were in gymnastics and you went to a meet and hadn't practiced you would not do very well, homework is to train your mind so that when you take a test or need the information you have practiced.
