Tennessee by a long shot. Nashville made USA Todays most friendly city to drive in this year when you ask for directions people in Tennessee won't show you they'll take you.
Mississippi may be the most generous state in the US because when you factor in the average income of a person in Mississippi compared to how much they donate to charity people in Mississippi give more of what they have than people in other states.
Here is the official generosity index for the five most generous states ranked by how much the citizens of the state make compared to how much they give to charity...
The first number is how they rank by income
The second is how much they rank in charitable output
Subtract those numbers and you have the third number which is the generosity index
Mississippi 50 5 45
Arkansas 47 6 41
Oklahoma 43 8 35
Louisiana 42 10 32
Alabama 38 7 31
Tennessee 34 3 31
South Dakota 44 14 30
Utah 31 2 29
South Carolina 40 12 28
Idaho 41 20 21

I have traveled the US extensively over the last few years. Your most caring, friendly, and generous people are "mostly" located in the midwest and away from big cities. You have to get away from the hussle and bussle, to a point where people rely on each other for things. Take a trip through some small midwest backtowns (Minnesota and Wisconsin), these people will bend over backwards to help you!

Not Utah or Nevada. A long time ago, I was told that Wisconsin has the nicest people.
