New Line Cinema is in the planning stages for 'The Hobbit' and must make the movie within the next couple of years or they lose the rights to make the film. New Line and Peter Jackson are in a legal battle over profits from one of the LOTR films and Jackson has announced that he will not direct the new movie. New Line has announced that they are shopping for directors for the movie.

They are working on The Hobbit.
"Peter Jackson, director of the The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, stated in March 2005 that a live-action motion picture version of The Hobbit was being considered, but that it would be at least 2008 or 2009 before filming would start...". But, it will not be directed by Peter Jackson.

There are romors that New Line will be making a movie of "The Hobbit" (The book that comes before The Lord Of The Rings), But Peter Jackson will not be directing it. Getting it together is taking a lot of time, due to issues with rights etc.

They are working on the Hobbit but without Peter Jackson who did the other three movies.. Kind of disappointing and there is NO way that movie is going to live up to the other 3 which were absolutley stunning and wonderful.

They have been talking about making the Hobbit, Peter Jackson reported early this year, that they had the go ahead after leagl issues. The Hobbitian village still exists after Lord of the Rings, it has been mentioned Ian Mckellan may return as Gandalf, but else is quite.

the saga ended with the 3rd one, ther might be a cartoonseries comming, They always make those big movies into cartoons.
The movies went with the books, and there are only three books, so there are only three movies.
