There are many advantages for living in San Diego, California. Great weather, booming economy, job opportunities, and stats:

Only disadvantage is cost of housing, but not different than LA

I agree with jit. Advantages are great weather and lots of job opportunities, but let me also add: a great university (UCSD) and health facilities (Scripps), lots of terrific restaurants, friendly people, less traffic than L.A., proximity to the coastline and wonderful beaches, the San Diego Zoo and Sea World, and Balboa Park. So many wonderful things about S.D. - I love living here.

The most notable disadvantage is the price of housing, but at least it's finally going down a little after that insane run-up in prices that occurred over the last six years through 2005. Traffic may be worse than other states, but at least it's better than L.A., and definitely not as smoggy.

San Diego also has a lot of diversity in terms of culture and races, so I think it's a great place to live. Also, if you like travelling to Mexico (Rosarito, Ensenada), San Diego's super close to the border. In San Diego, you have the opportunity to get a great job, meet friendly people, and live a wholesome lifestyle while meeting people from many different cultures.
