Why are there only 3 NFL games on network TV on Sundays instead of 4 (ie. 2 @ 1pm ET & 2 @ 4pm ET)?

NFL only has a contract with CBS and Fox for daytime games; and they sure can't show 2 games at the same time on one channel. And only one channel shows a double-header. it's a darn shame.
But beginning this year, Sunday Night Football has been on NBC at 8:30 PM.

well lets see. usually around 12pm CT or 1pm ET there is one on Fox and one on CBS then Fox and CBS take turns on carrying the third like one weekend fox will show two back to back then cbs will the next time. then you have sunday night football at 7:30 or so CT or 8:30 ET. then Monday Night Football is now on ESPN at 7pm CT 8pm ET. and the rest can be seen if you have the NFL Sunday ticket with Direct TV sattellite. i suppose they do this bc of the money. they know if people wanna see more games, especially ones that dont have cable theyll either get cable or they and those who have cable already will get sattellite and purchase the NFL sunday ticket where supposedly you get to view all the nfl games. all about the money!

The networks take turns with the double-headers based on their programming schedule...That's a contract put put by the NFL so that both networks get to show the double headers on varied Sundays. If you'll notice, the games scheduled and televised are regional coverage games...so if there's no 4:00 game going on with a team in your region, then there's no need in showing 2 teams of no interest to that area...I agree with you, there should be 2 games on each channel, but hey, who are we to decide...right?

Depends on the Market your in and if they need to sell tickets to the game. If the game is not sold out on then you can't watch it on tv
