If it's operating in safe mode, it'll show on the desktop in each of the corners "safe mode". What you can do is try to interrupt the usual loading sequence by pressing F8 when windows is about to start loading (right after restarting). Press that key several times in sequence, since it's kinda hard to press it in just the right time. After that, you can choose a different mode to load in (like normal mode, safe mode, safe mode with networking etc.)

Firts go to Start, Run and type MSCONIG, enter. CHeck that normal startup is selected. If it is then restart your computer and as it's loading keep pressing F8. A menu should load giving you the option of starting normally. That's all I got for now.

When you restart it instead of going with the bar that says START IN SAFE MODE, click the DOS looking bar that says START NORMALLY.

The three Rs of computing. When in doubt, right click, reboot, reformat.
Sounds like you might have either a virus, spyware or adware. Try downloading ad-aware or spybot or avast (or all three) and running them. Defrag is always a good thing. Last and most importantly, get someone that knows what they are doing, reformat the machine.

The best thing to do, is find the box that it came in.
Pack the computer neatly into the box.
Then send the box back to where it came from.
Asking questions like that, means you haven't got a clue what you are doing.

it means that you need to do virus checks and do spyware checks to see what is slowing the computer down as that usually slows a computer down.
Its like a car, they need the relevant checks done to the engine to see if it is running properly, and if correctly enabled then the car runs properly.
That could be the reason your pc is running slow, you could try wiping the os and installing a new one and starting a fresh...

Put the Windows XP CD in and restart. Press any key when you are told to and then reinstall Windows XP (remember to backup your files first).

a good idea is to uninstall the software you never use
then run something like spybot over it to remove all the rubbish you pickup when surfing the net.
Other than that you might just need to reload windows.
cheers
