If you live in a council or h/a house or receive benefits, pest control from your local council will come out for free. I'm not sure what they charge otherwise. When I had them there wasn't much of a body count to be honest and the guy from pest control said that's normal enough cos they take the poison back to their nest and they all die there. Are you sure they are still alive? I'd carry on putting the poison down cos they are taking it and it will eventually kill them. Traps are useful too. Or even get a cat or dog - tho that's a bit drastic if you don't want a pet! Good luck I know how horrible it is but they will die in the end. Carry on doing what you're doing. The poison works on a body weight for weight basis so if there are quite a few of them it will take a while to kill them all off.

Oh Dear,
Blocking up the holes will help but an adult mouse can get through a hole 9mm in size. A baby about 5mm. If they then want to get back through a blocked hole they will chew through it. You are doing the right thing with the poison and wont see many mice as they take it back to their nest to eat and hopefully die (unless they decay in your walls and thats not good). You need to identify the food source of the mice and remove it, then try to identfy the entry points into the house, their should be mice droppings on the floor under the holes. Then you have 3 real options 1) Carry on with the posion, if you are happy they are not under your floor or in the walls 2) Lay baited traps or personally 3)lay sticky boards on the run ways, so you can remove the mice from your house once caught. This is considered a little in humane to the mouse but providing you check the boards often and remove any kill any mice you should be OK. Remember to lay the traps and boards up against the walls.
If you buy a cat, dont forget to stop laying the poison!!!!
Hope this helps

Sure getting a cat would work, but since you have been putting poison out if the cat ate a mouse that ate some poison, the cat would die too. Here is a hint, mice HATE the cold (along with various other annoying vermin) place more poison in various "hot spots," any place where you find mouse droppings, and in small, dark crevices, then find a place to stay for two days and make sure there is NO HEAT being generated. Not only will the poison be able to take effect better, the mice that do not consume the poison wil either leave for a warmer spot or die due to the cold.

buy one or two electronic mouse deterents. You simply plug them in , they work. The problem with poison is the mice will die inside your walls and smell. If you have cats, dogs, kids they may get into the poison, or your animal may digest a mouse thats been poisoned. Read the directions there are some that will not go through more than one wall or barrier, the better ones run through the entire houses electric system. They emit a sound that mice hate and the mice will leave. You will not hear it. I had a 75 year old house I bought two and placed them in the basement and attic , soon I had no mice at all.

You are doing the correct thing, you need to put the poison down until they no longer take it, However, if you live in a block, or a row of terraces the problem may be wider spread than you think.
You need to speak to your neighbours to see if they have a problem, or call in Environmental Health, they will be able to advise you, contrary to popular belief not all Local Councils offer a free service, check first. It is true , as one answerer has already said that they may die elsewhere, you also need to ensure that the active ingredient of the poison you are using is capable of doing the job, there may be some resistance to the bait you are using, check that it is an Anti coagulant, the ingredient should be either Difenicoum,or, Bromadialone, make sure it is not Alphachlorilose, as this kills by reducing body temperature,(Hypothermia) and will probably not work in centrally heated homes.
If this fails you will need to get Professional advice.
Be sure to follow the instructions on any Poison you use, Make sure nothing, or no one but the Mice can get to it. Good Luck.
PS Rodents will get used to Ultra sonic devices, I have seen them nesting on them.

Glue traps ... I had the same problem. They were stealing the food from my dogs' bowl; peek into the Asked Areas for my answers. My final solutions: 1. Find the holes & fill them with spray foam. 2. Blue blocks of poison in the walls & back behind the counters, 'fridge or anywhere else the kids, pets and such can't reach them. 3. Glue traps with peanut butter in the center. Make sure the peanut butter is in the center so they run in & stay in the middle and get stopped by the glue on the traps. And make sure you use a stick and a plastic bag to gather the mice corpses once they die or they will stink up the house. 4. Make sure to get a deodorizer for the smell - if they die behind the walls the house will stink for a few weeks. Best Always, Jaime

I have had real good luck with a product called Havoc. It looks like rabbit pellets only bright green. You put out a packet (50g each) where you see evidence of mice activity or every 15-30 feet. Keep putting out fresh packets when it is used up. Once you notice that the pellets are being untouched -- the mice are gone !! I purchased it at our local Landmark Feed Store. I swear by it, I won't use anything else. You may or may not see any dead mice though, you only know you are successful when they stop eating up your packets. Also I have two dogs and they have never seemed interested in getting into the poison. It must only smell attractive to rodents... Good Luck !!!

We have the same problem, thought about putting sticky paper all over the floor but i'm sure the little things with manage to doge that. Try getting hole filler and fill all the holes (they have to be getting in somewhere) then just keep with the poison...try differant types maybe! I've also heard if you put peanut butter on those mouse traps they eat it! Anything is worth a try!

Don't put poison down. The thing with poison you don't know where the vermin will die. Will create a stink if it's the wrong place. Always put a trap down. No need for bait, just against the wall. They'll run over it instead on around it. Peanut butter is great though instead of the traditional cheese.

Try buying the sonic noise electrical plugs. They send out a sound only the mice can hear. They really work but you will need one for each room. They might cost you about £15 to £20 each. Warn your neighbours because your mice will go there for a bit of quiet.
