Okay, you got answers from people who don't know a damn thing. Get lives! Okay, to answer your question: There is no one job description for "producer." It may be a writer who had a big hand in the production. It may be the stars agent. It may be the executive producers assistant. It could be the person who raised the money for the project. Could be a lot of things. The way you get to be anything is to get an entry level job in the industry. Learn what you need to know and try like hell to move up.

Take classes at a community college. Try and socialize everyday of the week with people who are looking or are in the direction your in. Move to a better location like LA to make it easier on yourself (a bit of a gamble, but sometimes thats what it takes). Make a goal plan of criterias to meet. Get started now!
