I'm trying to figure out if reduction is the answer. I'm 21 and wear 40 DDD. My breasts weight an estimated 20lbs and they feel like they're pulling on my neck. Even before I gained my 100 lbs of weight they were a big D. I really can get along without them. Will a doctor approve of a breast reduction for me or just tell me to lose weight and see about it?

I'm sure you'll find a doctor to approve a breast reduction - doctors are quick to order surgery on women for just about anything - but surgery should never be the first option

Try getting a better bra, and doing exercises to improve your posture. If that doesn't work, try diet and exercise - if you lose weight, your chest will get smaller too.. also, if you go to the gym, and become physically stronger, you'll be able to handle the weight of your chest easier and it will cause you less pain

Try that before you get surgery - you don't want to mutilate yourself - and if you get a breast reduction, it may make it impossible for you to breastfeed when you have kids (or you might be able to produce fluid, but it won't be milk - there have been moms who's kids got malnutrition because they tried to breastfeed after they had had reduction surgery, and their breasts had been damaged in the surgery and could no longer produce milk)

be careful before you let the doctors cut you!

I would try losing a few pounds 1st. Then if you've lost all your doctor thinks you should, maybe a reduction is the answer. If they're pulling on your neck, that can't be good for your own comfort. So get a really supportive bra and talk to your doctor.

Firstly, how old are you? Generally, before the age of 17 or 18, a girl's body is still developing. Any younger than that and your body might look like nothing resembling human form, but it will sort out. Also, hormones play a huge part in messing with your body (pregnancy makes boobs bigger - usually). I know a girl who was a D cup for most of later high school, and now she's a C cup. Her boobs shrank once her body got itself settled down from puberty. Also, who said big boobs are ugly?? There are whole websites devoted to big breasts. In Western society, it's almost seen as a status symbol. Big'n'Bouncey is how a lot of guys like 'em. They only get ugly if they're all stretch marked and veiney, due to a lack of support. I'm assuming you wear well fitted, and supportive bras and if you don't you can actually increase the risk of breast cancer and mammary-tissue damage in later life. They might be expensive, but they're freaking worth it! As for the husband issue.... Well! There's only one way to find out if a guy likes your body, and that's to show it to him. I'm not trying to sound crass, but it's true. And I think that anyone who wants to get married should try living together as a couple for a time before they actually go through with it. What if you find out he's got a small penis, or is impotent, or just a really bad shag? You don't know until you've tried. In the mean time, be happy with what you've got. Enjoy them, look after them, because almost every straight guy loves 'em!

If you make an appointment with your doctor he will tell you if you are a good candidate for a reduction. Your insurance company will have a certain criteria that you will need to fit. First do you suffer from chronic back pain. The insurance Company will always want you to lose weight before they will OK the surgery.

You may be encouraged to loose some weight first. Some of the reasonings for a reduction would be neck and back pain. Good luck!

A friend of mine wanted a reduction. Her doctor advised her to loose about 30 lbs. first. That had to do more with aiding in her healing process and shorten her "down time" post op. She then her reduction and feels better and looks better than ever!

Best of Luck to you.

Breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

Losing wieght is a good start but if you start documenting back pain and if you get those indentions on your shoulders from your bra, after a period of documentation, you can usually get your insurance to pay for it. Just make sure your doctor is willing to with you. Also, do your research! It is one of the most painful surguries, so you need to prepare yourself for that. I have been working on it myself for over 5 years.

The doctor will do it but the thing is you will waste your money if you don't start losing weight and add more on. Your better off to start walking and you won't belive how much walking really does.
