Well living in NJ I get NY news so I hear everything that happens there. I think in a whole the NYPD are good people doing a difficult job but like in life there are a few bad apples. Now talking about what happened to the 23 year old who just got killed I think 50 shots is ridiculous. I can't say it was a racial thing and it could have been a white guy who had gotten killed just the same BUT (and I don't know all the facts) it sounded like the guys were trying to get away from the cops. I think the Cops (who were undercover) may have just looked like a bunch of guys with guns pointing at then so they wanted to get away. They were in their car ramming other cars and almost hitting a cop but maybe they didn't know he was a cop just a wacko with a gun pointed at them and if it was you wouldn't you run someone over or hit some cars to get away? Now they are saying that one of them was over heard saying he was going to get his gun before this all happened and that is why the cops followed them but none was found and no shots other then the cops were fired so I am thinking it isn't looking good for the cops right now and I am sorry for the family of the man who died! It stinks!!!

I know they do a lot of drills. I have only been to the big apple once and they were doing a bunch of emergency drills. I guess it is often now. I met an NYPD officer in Italy (on our tour) and he said they had been doing all those drills for a little while and they are there to stay. This dude said he saw his first dead body his 2nd day on the job and he said it was the narliest smell he ever did sniff. Crazy, huh? Other than that, I only know the tv show. Mark Paul Gosslear was looking oh so good!

I have been to New York a few times and I found the police there much friendlier and easy to approach than police in other places, like tacoma WA for example, but still not nearly as good as what we have in europe...

I have a good opinion of them. Since Giuliani became mayor in 1993 the city is much safer, the crime rate is a lot lower.

it's one of many police agencies; they have good cops and bad cops, like all the other agencies too!!
