I barely watch the tv, other than to get the weather... Usually I put in a movie.. TV has turned into reality world, which in itself is anything but reality... I agree many people believe what the media spouts out.. unfortunately, the media is constantly changing their story... people are too lazy to go find the real facts..
so not to worry my friend, I haven't been infected with the "disease"!

You are so right in your question/statement. the most basic part of the problem is lack of history education. there really isn't anything new in the world of humans that hasn't been tried or experienced in the past if people could learn enough about history they would not have to keep making the same mistakes over and over and over and would have some solid basis to make good decisions and opinions with.

Thinking for yourself means to risk being wrong and honestly, we don't have too many people left who actually have the backbone to stand on their own two feet.
Without crisis and turmoil, people don't learn to depend on there own devices and it's been a very long time since people have had any reason to think of anything other than "why won't they pick up and deliver my cute pootsy-wootsy to her doggie day care when I have to go to the mall? I'm going to be late for my manicure!"
When people stop thinking, only a few Powers-that-be make all the decisions and I guarantee they're not decisions to line YOUR pockets. (Read Ayn Rand - Atlas Shrugged)

Most people use first impressions as their opinion which mostly comes from the TV or other media medium or everyone else's opinion so they don't be left out etc.

I think just fine for myself. I have many people that disagree with it, but at times I really don't care. Because I know how I feel about things and its really on them if they can't accept it.

I agree.. I hate how teen girls look up to the "icons" who did nothing to earn their fame, except for being lucky enough to be born into a wealthy family.

It's easier for people to ''borrow'' someone else's viewpoint, than to truly think about how they really feel, and base an opinion on that.

Well, we can always rely on Fox news to provide plenty of adverbs and adjectives when they describe their version of news events. It teaches us better English
