violence and chaos in Iraq increased by a factor of 10 once the US left? (some experts predict this).

The "experts" aren't always 'expert' in their way of thinking. What is worse than hundreds of Iraqis being killed everyday EVEN THOUGH the United States troops are still there!? You have "violence and chaos" everyday in Iraq. Every single day.

Unfortunately many in the United States simply do not care about other people. They fail to recognize that many Iraqis truly want peace and stability. Those who do want change, want only the lesser of two evils. That US troops go home, rather than to kill them.
Bush wants Iran to stay out of Iraqi affairs. This will not happen as Iraq needs Iran. In fact they have already made up their minds that Iran will be a part of their upcoming decisions. Maliki made a telling statement this morning., He didn't seem to back off of what our president wants. My guess is that Maliki has already talked to not only Iran, but Syria as well. This is THEIR Middle East.
The US has left permanent unforgettable footprints on Iraqi soil. Such footprints have stomped on other nations where the U.S. simply had no business interfering.
Leave Middle East business to the Middle East before we are all engaged in another world war.

what's the definition of victory in this actual conflict? it isn't any longer a sensible-*** question... it is truthfully my situation with this conflict. we are no longer combating an army or a usa. Are we waiting for the Iraqi government to act like a real and self sufficient government? that would desire to take years and coul proceed into failure. Are we only waiting for the risk-free practices forces to "upward push up"? Why havn't we resolved this one piece in 5 years? that's a protracted time to coach squaddies... a protracted time. If it replaced into available then we'd have accomplished it already. i'm no longer asserting we would desire to continually pull out this night... yet we would desire to look at this realistically. and that i havn't even stated the re-deployments or the value of an occupation... as quickly as returned, we would desire to be sensible.

First off, lets stop speaking hypothetically and focus on facts. More than 100 Iraqis die each and every day now....not 10...not 50...over 100....Can you still say that the war is going good? If so, I would hate to see what you consider bad!! Second off, if this were a "helping mankind" mission, we went a bit too far north. Africa needs our help much more than Iraq. And to the moron who said "genocide never before seen in warfare", Go back to school and study your history. Wait, are you talking about American History? If so, history didn't begin in 1776....

A lot of the people calling for us to pull out wouldn't care. They don't care about the Iraqi people. They only care about Americans. If 10 million Iraqis died, but it saved one American, they would be for it. It's the ultimate in racism/xenophobia. Look what happened after we pulled out of Viet Nam. Millions were slaughtered as South Viet Nam fell to the communists. Do any of the hippies that proudly proclaim that they helped get us out of Viet Nam care at all about any of those people that were massacred? Do they even bring it up? Of course not. Those people weren't Americans, so why should they care. As long as they can have their hippy circles and protest our government, they don't care what happens to other peoples.

Trust me the death toll does not matter unless it makes Bush look bad. The Dems have decided that the death of US troops is more dis-tastefull to Americans that the deaths of people in that country.

Don't worry though, if the Dems force a pull out and it goes to hell there, rest assured they will blame Bush for that too.

gephardt6...- that attitude is what lead to the WTC bombing, USS Cole and 9/11. There little dis-agreement has spilled out over the entire world and eventually it WILL have to be dealt with, unless you want to convert to Islam and learn arabic.

When we leave Iraq, you will see genocide on a scale never before seen in the history of modern warfare.

Of course, they'll blame us.

It's not our problem to salvage other countries (we've done our fair share of that)... If that was really what this war was about, "helping out our fellow man", we would be directing our service to the countries in AFRICA; they need it much more than Iraq, and would willingly accept it.

We're not trying to save the Iraqi people... we're trying to Westernize them for our own benefit.

I would also much rather the Iraqis were left alone to kill each other, rather than aim their endeavors at our brave soldiers. I wish they would realize it is Bush that is causing this mess, not the mass of soldiers they kill each day.

I have asked this question with some twists but they say its nothing to do with us but if it becomes something to do with us we should go back "with bells on " as one put it. The fact is they cant see the bigger picture. tunnel vision and apathy. too scary to imagine what these two views together can do..

all i can see is Africa, Poland and France but hey what do I know Im a stupid conservative.

I could personally care less if they kill each other off, they've been doing it for centuries. My concern is for our soldiers being pulled out before their job is done and making them seem like failures. This is the stigma the Vietnam Vet has lived with for decades and its not fair to our brave men and women pulling them out, before they complete their mission.

First evacuate the troops, then peruse the nebulous, if, uncertain, future. Experts. Hm. I've never met one.
