I'm pretty sure the movie came first, from which the tv show sprang. Many fun tv sitcoms came from movies, such as "Alice" from Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. Also some from other tv shows, like the Jeffersons used to be the Bunkers' next door neighbors on All in the Family., Laverne and Shirley hung out on Happy Days...etc

The movie was first. A few of the actors from the movie moved onto the series. M*A*S*H was one of my favorite shows.

The movie came first, and the series ran as a continuation, though with all new actors, I think only Radar (Gary Burghoff) was in both but don't quote me on that!
