Products? Is that how your teacher phrased it?

Pianos are made from formed wood for the body, the top, the works, the keys and the sounding board; formed metal for the harp, the pedals and the strings; and composite materials (nylon, or plastic or rubber and metal) for the wheels. Older pianos had actual ivory for the key caps. Newer ones use plastic key caps.

Pianos are made of:

wood (for the furniture portions, the rim, the soundboard, the keys [even on pianos with ivory white keys, the key is only topped with ivory; the majority is still wood] and most of the action),

metal (for the plate, the strings [which are actually wire, not strings in the usual sense], tuning pins, portions of the action, and things like screws, hinges, pedals, and wheels),

felt (for the hammers, the bushings, and the dampers),

ivory or plastic or an ivory substitute or, in rare cases, bone (for the keytops on the white keys)

glue

plastic for the keys on modern pianos (and on Kawai pianos for portions of the action) and....

varnish or some other sealant for the case.
