Not too expense but not cheap either.

How about a bag of goodies? Get her some lotions and maybe some bath oils. Throw in a pair of fuzzy socks (or maybe even a faux fur blanket..I just got one for around $25 and it's great!). And then maybe a soothing candle. Hope that helps :-)

A gift certificate to a spa that does pregnancy massage! If you can find a place that has special tables, that's even better.

If that's too pricey, other gift certificates for restaraunts or movies etc. are good. If she's not apt to use it before the baby comes, include a certificate from you for free babysitting.

Speaking of gift certificates, you could make a coupon book with sitting certificates along with others like "Free load of laundry", "Free dishwashing", or "Free homecooked meal". This will be quite helpful to her after the baby comes. For me, the best gifts were the meals people brought, or having the vaccuuming done, etc.

Another great gift that I got was a foot spa. It really helped at the end of my pregnancy with my swollen feet. You can usually find a decent one for $20-$30.

I hope this helps. Best wishes to your friend! :)

I received what I think is the best thing a new mom could receive. My good friend made me 2 weeks worth of food! Casseroles and Crock-Pot meals. It was awesome!! We were busy as a New Family that cooking was either fast crappy food or PB&J. So when we were hungry we just looked at what was in the fridge!! She was thoughtful enough to have single servings of stuff that we could just pop in the micro! It was truly a life saver. If you do not have time for that..then I suggest get together a bunch of take-out menus (around where they live)and put them in a cute folder and include a Visa gift card!! That way they can spend it at any of the food places! I think the Visa gift cards you can get at any local bank but it might take a few weeks to receive it. Good-Luck!!

My favorite thing would have to be a tie between gift cards for a pedicure and a mother-to-be massage. The pedicure was great towards the end of my pregnancy when my feet and ankles were swollen and hurting. The massage was wonderful too for all the back pain I was having due to the baby shifting things around.

You could get her a nice soft robe, if she doesn't already have one: something she can be in the house in when baby comes and not feel frumpy. As others have suggested, a massage is nice, but if she'll want it now check with the place to see if they do prenatal massages (not everyone does) and also know that most conscientious places will only massage in the second trimester. Mani/pedi is always nice. But help around the house for after baby comes is FAB. Food, a housecleaning, is great.

Lotions, a nice box of chocolates, a good fluff book (or a serious one if that's more their style), some nice fluffy socks if you live in a cool area (when I was pregnant I was always freezing), one of those squish pillows (was a life saver for me in the last few months), or just something that has no use and is pretty. Hope you figure out a good gift!

I would steer clear of anything smelly - like lotions, oils, or the such. Just as a pregnant woman's sense of smell is very sensitive, it's almost more acute shortly after delivery. A very thoughtful friend bought me some vanilla lotion (previously my favorite), and it made me vomit. Also, "smelly" things can also irritate the baby if the mom wears it around it.

I would give her a "gift certificate" for a home-made dinner of her choice after the baby arrives. Or a "coupon" for house-cleaning, babysitting, a lunch-date, coffee, or such. Other things that are great gifts are "mom" gifts such as a charm or pendant with mother symbols. If this is her first child, things like that are really touching. I had one purchased for me from James Avery, and it was beautiful.

I hope that helps

Depending on what the mom-to-be likes you could go wild with this. Put together an aroma therapy basket candles, bath salts and soaps, scented lotions and oils to rub into her sore feet and back. I enjoyed my home made day at the spa. Good Luck!!!

I would have to say a pedicure gift certificate. I could not get enough pedicures when I was pregnant. It was heavenly for me, my ankles & feet were so swollen. Pedicures are usually around $30 or $40, depending on where you live.

An half hour to hour massage would be a great idea. Maybe a spa pedicure and manicure. Something to pamper her and make her feel special and beautiful.
