I am going to do a trial study at a pain management program, and I will be trying art therapy.
I have bad pain in knees and joints, and I was wondering how this will help? And what will i do there?
It sounds fun!

art used that way has so many bennies to it that it is hard to list them all. Controlling what your mind sees and what your hand can do is a new experience for lots of people when it is in the art field because you are the only one who is in control if you can successfully do that then maybe helping your injury with you concentration is not so far out. Art also allows the subconscious to roam and exercise its muscle which most people do far too little of.

Get in there and give it hell let that inner child out and encourage it to go on a rampage/ then frame the results and have people guess who did it

you will creat art; paint, maybe use clay, paper mache, etc. its a holistic approach that claims if you are relaxed, content, and doing something to engage your mind you may reduce the amount of stress on your body (ie. pain). it won't cure you of pain but it will teach you a new coping mechanism.
