She lives in a different state. I wont be able to see her for xmas, but I'd like to send her a christmas present. I asked her what she wanted for xmas, her response was " I just want my family". My mom is going thru alot. An asshole 2nd husband who's hardly home (i wont be surprised if he doesnt come home for xmas), no family near her. All she have is my 10 yr old sister other than myself living very far from her. Any suggestion that would make her smile for xmas? Thanks..

What about buying one of those picture frames that is like two pictures connected together. I would put a picture of your family or yourself on one side and type up a poem for her on the other. Here's an example. You could use this one I wrote really quickly or come up with something original.

Mistletoe hangs above
It's that time of year
Christmas is the time
For happiness and cheer

But what happens when
The bells refuse to sound
Family's far away
And you're feeling down

I know I may not be home
The distance may seem far
But know that you're in my thoughts
And always in my heart

So I hope your day is special
With blessings from above
Even though I can't be there
I send you all my love!

Is there any way you can get her a trip to your house with out the husband? If not call her twice on Christmas Eve, Twice on Christmas Day. Tell her you love her and miss her. Send her pictures of you and the grandkids. Make her a gift that shows you care, a photo album, a scrap book with notes and wonderful memories of your life and the happy times. When you call laugh with her , have her tell you what she remembers most about the holidays. Memories are a God send over the holidays. If she likes chocolate cake , bake her one and send it with Love. Give her and IOU for your next visit. Plan your next holiday when you can see each other. Just make sure you talk with her early in the morning and then again that night . So , she can cherish the whole day.

If you can not be with her can you afford a ticket for her to come to be with you or your sister? How about a video picture album of the good times? Make sure you call her not only on xmas but at other times. Send her a phone card so she can call you when she needs to.

You must find a way to go see her without letting her know. She would be elated. trust me I live in Florida and all my family is in Michigan. I surprised my Dad for his 50th and it was awesome. Truth that family is the most important thing. Better than any gift you can get her.
