I am interested in planting some of these trees, which are native to the Dalmatia region of Croatia. I am having difficulty finding any sources for the plants in the United States. If non-US suppliers have plants, woudl it be difficult to obtain them for use in the US?

As one of the answerees below notes, the species I am looking for is Prunus Cerasus Marasca. This variety is very distinct from most popular cherry trees, as indicated in this Wikipedia entry, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marasca_cherry. This type of cherry might be used to make maraschino liqueur.

I'm not sure why you're looking for prunus cerasus marasca but you're having a difficult time because they aren't used here in the USA any longer. Prunus avium "Queen Ann" or "Napoleon" have taken their place. They can be found for sale at Forestfarm.com or http://trees.safeshopper.com/13/cat13.htm?168
