Ive used common househod bleach and all advertised commercial products with no success. Bleach pens didn't help. I've used all kinds of sponges, pads and toothbrushes but the black stain presists.

If it's REALLY mildew, a mix of water and 25% bleach will kill it. Since you've tried that, it's probably not mildew.

My suggestion is to pull out the top layer of grout and re-grout the tile. It's pretty inexpensive and easy, and is a good idea to do every few years anyways.

Ask in the tile department at Home Depot or Lowes and they'll show you the right stuff. Should cost about $10 for the grout, $10 for a grout float, and $2 for a good sponge. It took me 2 hours to do 2 showers.

Try Lysol Mildew cleaner- it is like Tilex but better- Mold and mildew are very hard to get control of but once you do, stay on it so it doesn't come back- Be sure to work in a well ventilated area. The main ingredient is chlorine or something that smells like bleach. Also, try Mr. Clean sponges. I hear they do a good job.

Living in Florida, this is an ongoing battle. I even took my pressure cleaner into the shower and gave it a good once over- it worked but what a mess.

are you sure it's in the grout and not in the caulk? if it's in the caulk, you are fighting a loosing battle... just pull up the caulk and put down new,... if it's in the grout, then buy mean green bleach cleaner it'll work.
