Teaching moves through TM and HM is exactly the same as it is in the normal games. However, if you try to use a TM but the name of a Pokémon is red, it means that it can't learn the move. If the word use is red, it means that none of the Pokémon in your team can learn the move. Once a TM is used, it becomes a used TM, but HM's do not break. A used TM can be restored by the move recycle though.

And Obviously, you need to actually have to have a TM or HM in order to teach the move.
