Now do you think I should study another programming language or should I go with vb itself? I read that it does not have the usual demand as before..

That's not quite true. I am still hiring VB (and VBA) programmers. However, the trend does seem to be toward DotNet. You may want to contact this guy (Mark) for more information:

I concur with Anne. Dot net is the new buzz. Of course, you could go for the "Cobol" effect and let yourself be the dinosaur that exists only to fix old VB software.

I have 20 years with C & C++, but have not learned C#. I still have work, but the opportunities are not near as common as C# (dot net equivalent of C++) jobs.

vb is for kids. get with a couple of real languages

javascript on the broswer and perl/php on the server.

java will follow vb in 10 years. being eaten away by python and ruby already!

and dotnet is the ms answer to everything... 8 years and it will be old.

VB is still in demand. Visual Studio.NET 2.0 has a lot of good tools to make coding easier. You can also still code in classic asp, which a lot of website developing companies still use.

VB.NET is another alternative. Keep in mind that Microsoft's massive might is behind .NEt and VB is on a sunset cruise.
