I run xp & have found that the outlook express will not open at all when the mns/hotmail site is down. what up w/that?

That really doesn't make sense. You should be able to run Outlook without an internet connection. Try disabling your network and see if it starts, possible you have some kind of virus. Without network service you would not get any new mail nor send mail but you would still be able to open outlook and work with what you already have.

u ought to tell as wich os gadget u use if u use win2000 u ought to replace with service pack4 if u use xp u probly have trojans experiment your gadget or use extra useful mail editor like thunderbird.
