No, South Africa and Botswana are both good friends* of ours. They're also both quite capable of defending themselves, though we'd help them if they asked. The British and Australians undoubtedly would, too.

I can't imagine a situation where South Africa would become "hostile", but if it did - and, more importantly, attacked Botswana - then the U.S. would probably move a carrier group into position, destroy South Africa's air force and gain air supremacy over the country, then move Marines and Special Operations (and later the regular Army) into Botswana to repel the South Africans. We would also launch guided missile and precision bombing strikes against SADF targets. If that didn't work, we'd start going after financial, media, and industrial targets as well.

*I am aware of the difference between "friends" and "allies". And yes, I do mean friends.

If we were a piddly little conflict torn usa that had had 4 distinct ruling powers in 10 years, and were being ruled and abused by the present chief, then we would purely be grateful. Terrorists are not the prepared forces of the occupied usa. Terrorists are those that employ 14 12 months previous youngsters to bypass on suicide missions, and terrorists are the reason that my husband cant take his son and that i to the Independence Day fireworks reveal because hell have a flashback. Prewar Iraq and united statesa. of united statesa. are literally not something alike.

WE WOULDN'T NEED A BASE THERE. WE CAN INVADE ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD WITHOUT ESTABLISHING BASES IN NEARBY COUNTRIES.
THEY HAVE A VAST COAST IN SOUTH AFRICA. THE INVASION CAN COME FROM THE SEA.
