if you don't know much about PC's get Dell

if you are PC savy, build your own Intel Core 2 Duo machine, you'll save plenty, but won't have support

I your somewhere inbetween, then you should probably get a Dell. For the price, quality and service, they are hard to beat.

keep in mind, Fast and cheap are not words that go together in the PC world.

Dell have a good reputation for selling cheap and nasty computers. Go and have a look round your local computer fair for really good bargains. You could also get them to build a computer to your specification.

Cheap deals usually means cheap components....

They deliberately make it confusing as hell, in the same way that the mobile phone providers do.

Cut out all the confusion and get a Dell, they have got nothing to prove. You can't beat them on LONG TERM value for money.

Nothing wrong with Acers either.

I would normally say dell but in the last couple of years they have really gone down hill. There designs seem full of faults (PSU's and mboatds). A good sit to check is http://www.overclockers.com/ and the best advice is to get an Intel processor OK amd is cheaper but for better performance its worth it.

Cheap if you are just using to browse the web, send email or word processing. Fast for gaming, video editing, DVD burning, etc.

What's cheap in your understanding? Try dell's XPS series or E1505, if you want a laptop. For desktops - check out eMachenes, or build your own, it's really easy to build a desktop these days. :)
