I mean, Sarah isn't really that complicated, is it? People are always leaving off the "H" even after they've SEEN my name spelled. (in an email, on a piece of paper, under my pic in Yahoo! Answers, etc) That's the worst! Do they assume I've misspelled my own name or something?

And how come, when I say, "It's Sarah, with an 'H' " do they spell it Sarha? Or Sahra?? I mean, really people... I've never seen it spelled that way for real! Sarah is one of the easiest names ever! Just pay attention. Geesh...

Don't take it personally. Sarah is a common name, but is spelled a variety of ways. Because the name is so common, almost everyone has had a close friend or relative with the name. A lot of those people used the "Sara" spelling, and its almost second nature for people to write it the way it is most familiar to them. It isn't that they don't care about you as an individual, it is simply that human beings are creatures of habit; it is almost subconcious. By the way- I think Sarah, the way you spell it, is a beautiful name. I often annoy "Sara's" by adding the "h"!

Sarah, don't feel bad. My mother spelled my name ending with a "y" and people often address mail (or e-mail) to me as Mr. thinking I am a guy because that is the masculine spelling for Terry. Girls usually spell it Terri, Terrie, Teri and people have no mistake it is a female. They automatically assume Terry is male (unless they've met me in person).

I think because the "H" is silent in your name, people forget to add the "H." Also, I know a few people that are named Sara and they leave the "H" off, so it gets confusing for people, I think. :) That's why you get a lot going on assumptions when they really don't know. If you've corrected them on this...then...hmmm.. I don't know what to call it...well, I do, but I won't say it on here. :)

It's just people not paying attention. I'm 33 yrs old and get my name spelled wrong all the time even by family members, and Angela isn't that hard to spell either or so I thought. Wish there was a way to get these people to do it right, but I've given up, now I just mispell their names half the time so they can see how it feels.

hahaha. I have the opposite problem. I spell my name Sara without the H and for my entire life have been battling with people spelling my name Sarah, Zara, Dara, to crazy things like Zhara. I've learned to just let it roll off my shoulders, who cares if you can't spell my name on the first try. Atleast I don't have some wierd name that people can't even prounounce....or I could be named Falker...hahaha

It seems as time goes on, people get dumber and dumber. Have you noticed some of the spelling and grammar on this site? Amazing, and there is even a spell check button. Also, part of the problem is idiotic parents with no self worth and nothing real to offer their spawn, desperately trying to prove how clever they are by coming up with alternate spellings of classic names. You are probably just confusing them and their brain-dead offspring.

My name is even worse because it is uncommon. The unfortunate aspect to your name is the there are many ways to spell it, especially with all the unusual New Age names and spellings. It's small stuff. Just let it go. Forgive us for being human.

Maybe if parents didn't all try to be "different", names would be spelled the right way. Having the name Amy, you would think I wouldn't have to spell it for people all the time, but I do! They couldn't just leave that one alone!

It's because people sound out their words and your name can be spelled different ways when it's done like that.
You should have my name and see how many different ways its spelled and what you are called sometimes.
