don't do abortion or death penalty or legalization of drugs..those are totally overdone...try to find something that you really care about; that way it will be easier to write since you don't have to "fake it"...also, it doesn't have to be a big thing; it can be something local (i.e. cleaning up a local park or getting a particular teacher fired)...think about the things that matter most to you and write about that...good luck!

Should the Internet be completely restricted to a certain age limit.
Time limit on the Internet....
Television censor of foul language or other adult content before say 9:00pm...
Sports paying too much money to the players for what amounts to just entertainment...
Police and Fireman should be paid much, much higher- $500,000 and more- they are in dangerous professions and the integrity will be better...
Just a few that can be controversial and yet interesting to discuss...

that depends on the class/topic but my fallback is always compare communism vs. socialism. its easy and it makes you sound really smart if you can write it correctly
