It's obviously a risk signing anyone close to 40, but it's tough to pass up considering how much he'll upgrade the DH position. His numbers should far surpass last year's DH-by-committee group of Shea Hillenbrand, Gregg Zaun, Eric Hinske, Cat, and the rest of that motley bunch.
He's been hurt a lot lately, but he's appeared in 135 or more games in 12 of his 16 seasons, and he had over 550 plate appearances in 2006. If he can come close to repeating last year's success, I'd be very happy.
Now, as for signing Royce Clayton when Julio Lugo is available, well, that's another story. I guess it upgrades the D, but I hope they're using that leftover money to go hard after Meche and/or Lilly.

Bad move. he´s a good player, and an improve over the DH position last year for the team.... but 2 years? He´s going to be on the DL at least a season of those 2, and the other part.... batting but not as much as the fans expected. And i´m not a Blue Jay fan...

I think signing Frank Thomas was good, it gave us a bat, yes its a risk cause of his age but so what, if he can go out there and give us some home runs and win ball games then Im all for it!
We just need to get some good pitchers and we will be a good team to contend with!!
We need to go out there and sign Vernon Wells to a long term contract, he is a huge part of the team and the puzzle
