I really need help on this one. I am a teenage girl who needs help on what kind of outfits are appropriate on casual dressy occasions. My family hosts a huge christmas party ever year and this year I am kinda stuck. What types of colors, shoes, tops, etc. go with types of tops, bottoms, etc? I wear a size 4 and have muscular legs. I tend to be a bit more on the casual side but am wondering what items are dressy but not that dressy. I love stores like gap, AE, Lord and Taylor, and Nordstrom, just to give you an idea of what I like. I am also looking for accesories and shoes that arent tooo expensive but I am willing to splurge a bit. TIA!!

I would wear a pair of blue jeans, a pair of black Grace Tessa Shoe they run about one hundred and thirty, but if you want cheaper you can go with Salon shoe, Victoria or Verona they run about 73.00. They are all silk with leather bottom soles so if your foot sweats it wont stink because you will have a sweat sole with all of the shoes. And one of those black longer sweaters that go about a little longer than your butt. You will look classy but not too much.

My granddaughter is 18 and LOVES the clothes I buy for her, so I hope I can help. Like you, I enjoy casual clothes, but casual can be a full prairie skirt, a really nice pair of jeans, or a pair of black pants. Black pants are always in good taste and can be dressed up or down. Choose something that doesn't really cling if you are uncomfortable with your muscular legs.

Add a white tuxedo style blouse to the jeans with silver high heels and something sparkly and feminine in your hair. Or try a silky tank under a crocheted shrug. Silver is nice if it suits your coloring. Or try a cream or pinky beige. What's your favorite color? Try it. This idea works well with jeans, skirts and fancy slacks.

Do you like lace? A lace blouse, in black, cream or white works with the black pants. Add lots of chains and crystals in the neckline or really fancy chandelier earrings and kitten heels. That might do the trick.

A full skirt with an eyelet top works. Or try a straight skirt. Do you like purple? Try a deep purple skirt with a lush silvery mesh top.

And don't forget the many dressy sweaters that are touched with sequins and beading. They don't have to be over the top, but would add the touch of glitz you're looking for to both jeans and skirts. And they could be used for other occasions.

If you want to go ALL OUT - go RED. You can't miss. Even a simple red knit dress worn with sparkly jewelry or a glitzy belt looks festive. Red is a celebratory color that works for anything.

Whatever you choose, step outside your comfort zone if it looks good. This is the holiday season and you're allowed to go over the top for parties.

Hope I've helped and I hope my granddaughter doesn't see this. She'll know what she's getting for Christmas!

If you are a size 4, try these sites:

http://www.forever21.com

and

http://www.gojane.com

The Forever21 site has a section for "Dressy" tops.

And both of the sites have plenty of things that can be worn to a somewhat formal occasion, such as a Christmas party, and the prices are very reasonable.

I purchase things from both of these sites quite frequently. :)

Hope that helps!!
