Well, you just create it and it becomes automatically searcheable via the search engine...
try it and u will know ..
but if u want ur results to come in the top 10 or be prominent, you need to go to the website of that search engine provider and register urself...
e.g google/live/yahoo

from what i know, you have to "register" and ask for your site to be on the search engines you choose. I know there is also a program that exists that you put in your information and it automatically makes all the demands for you... sorry i don't remember the name :(
but "registration" it should be free of course... they only have to review your site and decide if they want to add it.
