If your buying a new game system for your little girl i'd suggest the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo is great at making games for kids. They always have been for the younger audience. Definatly stay away from the Xbox 360 as this system is built for online play, and I would never let a child play online. The amount of vulgar and profane people out there is astronomical.
