I would say this would be highly dependent on the style of resturant. Most places have a fairly stable menu but offer daily specials that are not on the normal menu. That being the case you don't have to spend the money on reproducing menu's all the time with changes. But a resturant does need to watch for what is selling and what is not selling along with pricing changes and react to those in a timely manner. So really it's going to depend on how stable your menu can be along with pricing.

No real rule. I changed mine once or twice a year. It's when you realize that some things on the restaurants are what we call "turds" meaning they don't sell, and you realize you still have an entire case of whatever that's gone bad once again.

You take the turd off, and add a special that you hope will be a better hook. My specials changed monthly, and then re-evaluate the menu as the months go by, then do another printing.

It's really up to whomever is in charge of the dishes and what's in season or what the trends are.

I think it should depend on the restaurant. If the restaurant is more trendy and chic, perhaps with every season and maybe a new special every few weeks or so. If the restaurant is more traditional and family oriented, the menu should be more consistent year-round with perhaps a nightly special that changes.

PS. I also agree with the person who talked about menu turds. Very true. If customers like the special, add it to the regular menu!

I think there should be seasonal changes at least twice a year in each menu category (appetizer/entree/dessert), but keep a selection of restaurant "standards" the same all year round.

I think it should be changed every season, unless of course it is a menu that changes every day in a specialty restraunt.

Changing onces at the start of every season gives a chance to add seasonal vegtables and fruits to the dishes.

There is no true rule of menu change.That is left to the owners own desegregation.You could have the same menu for the life of the restraint.

I think they should only add different things then remove the one's that are not popular. Each restaurant shoud have a meal they specialise in. and that should not change.

Once every two months or every season, but keep some of the Flagship items as permanent fixtures.
