ive had a ktm 125 sx for about 5 years and its time to go bigger. whats the best 250 that isnt a huge increase in learning curve from a 125? and preferably with cheaper parts. is there a significant change from 2 stroke to 4 stroke?

Thanks!

A 250 is a perfect upgrade from a 125.
The only real difference between a 2 & 4 storke is, a 4 stroke is very hard to start because of the added cylinder commpression.
A 4 stroke will cost way less to maintain the top end (no constant changing of piston & rings - just valve adjustment).
I would still recommend a 2 stroke.

I have generally used Honda dirt bikes since I find those the most reliable, however ktm is a nice brand as well. The only difference in upgrading that you'll feel is more power and acceleration. The engine and carbuerator will be bigger, but that is a given. One of the most noticable changes from 2 stroke to 4 stroke is that the 4 stroke is cleaner, most of the parts service themselves and will last longer. The 2 stroke is louder generally than the 4 stroke as well. The 4 stroke also produces cleaner exhaust fumes when emitted than a 2 stroke. They will generally last longer than a 2 stroke. I have a 2 stroke and love it though :).
