if you are a newbie at this try a solid color look. start with applying a highlight and base. it is usually a beige tone with shimmer. apply it to the upper lids and underneath the brow or browline. you can do this for a simple day look, it will just enhance your features. if oyu want something with color do the base and highlight and add a color to your eye lids. of course never forget to curl lashes and add mascara at all times. for a night/party look line upper lids with black liner then dip a brush in some brown eyeshadow and line the lower lids thinly(this part is optional)
try these colors:

fuji
partymonster
night fairy and night clubing
they have color but are not too flashy and can look good on most skin tones

try mac make up it works really good. Use a shade stick to make sure the eyshadow stays on and then use shades around honesty and then u can use romp for the sides....with a blending brush. It will look really pretty and not make u look like a clown.....then u can put some eyeliner on the botton and in the inner top or just on the top or for more drastic looks u can put it on both...with a wing because it seems to be the style these days....

eyeliner. mascara. blush. lip gloss.
and u will look awesome.
my advice to u regarding eyeliner would be to apply as so:
after putting on eyeshadow, get a black or brown pencil eyeliner (practice w/ liquid later). stay as Close to the lash line as possible. so, tilt ur head back. look down into the mirror, and apply closely to the lash line. when u get to the mid to outer corner of the eye, sweep straight out and then upwards slightly to create a cat eye effect... opens the eye up. then apply mascara to Upper lashes
on lower lash line, apply a highlighter.. like a gold or white eyeshadow or pencil. it brightens the eye.
either cream or powder blush and apply to the apples of ur cheeks, sweeping upwards
apply gloss/lipstick, and ur done! :) not too heavy, but gives u some pizazz. currently i like using a lavendar eyeshadow on the top lid, and accenting a bit w/ a darker purple at the crease u can practice that lately to create Depth. have fun!

Ok well the trick is to know what kinda color you want or if you just wanna bring out your eyes....Mine are green so I but a thin line of white just above my lases, them I but a very dark green on the upper corners of my eyes (the corner closet to my ears) Then I put a lighter green on the rest of the lid...Then I blend it..for an add touch I out a lil bit of purple on the underneath of my bottom lid (right under the lashes? because it will make the color stand out.....They have eyeshadow sets at the store for specific eye groups to make your own color stand out...they also have directions in the back on how to put it on....Good luck...

this is what i do
i always do shadow first
i put light on the lid and dark in the crease (browns)
and put a matching color to my outfit in the inside corners, so your eyes pop.
then i apply light brown eyeliner on the outside of my bottom lids
and dark brown or black on the inside
i then curl my eyelashes and apply a black mascara.
hope i helped !!
