Dont you think that if every person in the United States said that they were American and put it on a test, census, job application, license, or any form that ask you your race, ethinicity, and so on., we will no longer be compared to one another? Staticians and researchers would no longer have have the information to compare us from one another. I believe this is one thing that keeps racism alive in the U.S. Why does race matter, because in the end (if you are religious in any religion) it doesn't matter. You are judged by your deeds on Earth not by your heritage, race, ethnicity. What are your thoughts and opinions? hope you ladies and gents. can understand what I'm trying to ask.

Excellent question! I'm sure alot of people , like me, have not struck upon that thought yet. I also think if everyone that is a citizen of America were to be as proud to be an American as they were to be alive we wouldn't have as many problems with differences in race, ethnicity, culture, etc.
Thanks for the insight and some good food for thought!

I don't see that happening any time soon ... since people live off of " who they are " ... I'm Native American and I know I get all kinds of special amenities like college grants, I've had free medical, dental & vision my whole life ... just because I'm " Indian " ... I have friends here that make over $10,000 a month because they have a casino on their reservation ... would you give that up .. I don't think so ... it's crazy but until we start treating EVERYONE & ANYONE in America the same as if nothing has ever happened in our past it's not going to change ... one day we'll all be soooo mixed up nobody will know their true heritage ... not really sure what to think about it ... do we just throw out our family ties and say hey we're all American or do we pass on our culture, traits, habits ... stereo types ... etc ... another thing - not EVERYONE is religious ... so you can't base things on that ... there's a whole world out there ... guess we'll just have to sit back and wait to see what happens ... !

I totally know what you mean. Some one should tell those people that race shouldn’t matter anyways. Isn’t it racism if you post a survey that basically shows Mexicans are stupider than white people? It’s pretty much pointless. Why do people need to know these things anywayz? I think they’re just asking for trouble. That really pisses me off that everyone’s all no racism and world peace and then they try to show how certain races are better than every one else. I can’t think of any way that would benefit Americans.

Great questian, but there was racism before we had mass media. So I do not think we are infected with this from outside. And there is racism within races. Since racism is "not trusting others, treating others differently, showing bias. Arabs do not treat their own very well all the time. Blacks certainly fight within their own. Segragation takes place with all. . Whites have biases against other whites. It goes on and on. Europeans were discriminated against in Europe, one reason they came to America. Well, thats no solution, because I do not think there is one. We are not robots, it takes a long time to change people, if ever. Modify is a better word. We modify our speach and actions. But ever so often there is a crack and the truth slips out. Every one does that.

I would very much like to see any census on race eliminated. It's a pointless statistic to keep a tab on what color someone is. It's more divisive than helpful.

I was a telephone interviewer and when it came to the background questions and I had to ask what race they were- a lot of people would answer "American!' or "Human!". I was proud of those people! Altho it didn't help my job any :-) But continue to think that way- it does the world good. :-)

Totally agree with you. Any forms I may have to fill out that require stating your race, I put, "human" human race. Many people will disagree with me, I'm sure, but I tell my kids to do the same. They are bi-racial, I tell them to put "human".
