Ok, it's snowing and sleeting in Texas right now. What is your opinion on this? I live in a country down, with alot of rock roads with a bunch of pottwholes. On the schools around me got out today because the weather except for my school. It's sleeting, the roads are icy, and its snowing heavy right now. Do you think we should be released from school since it could be dangerous for students and buses to get out on this road...especailly since it'll be worse later in the day, cause it'll be froze by then?

Sleeting in Texas, you must be up around Sherman and Stephenville. Bet it's beautiful.
It's always a toss-up, when deciding whether to close schools and offices. You get confusion on the roads now, or total chaos later.
But in the country, if most schools are out, probably they all should be. PS... Writing this from your school library, I take it?

Rock roads are actually better to drive on than paved roads in the winter with a lot of snow. Pot holes tend to get filled in with snow if there's enough of it and the vehicles travelling over it make it hard packed. That road is probably smoother now than it had been in years. If school has to be cancelled, I believe it should be made up later in the year and many school districts do that, using up summer vacation time. Would you rather spend your days off school when the weather is dismal or when the weather is nice?

I think texas needs to cowboy up! that is right, i'm messing with Texas. i live in the mountains, it is common place for my brother to go to highschool in a good 2 feet of snow. I live on the other side of the mountain, and i still drive to work every morning, despite the snow and sleet!

I am really surprised you are still at school. Last year in Dallas we just got some rain and a cold front for a few days and my kid's school closed. Seeing as snow isn't typical there, they should take you all home.

Yes, school should be cancelled for safety purposes! You don't want kids walking home from school with a bloody nose because they slipped in ice patches! Ice is dangerous!
