I have recently started experiencing a very weird sensation in my abdomen, approximately over my left ovary that feels like there is a sudden burst of warm or hot water under my skin. It is very startling and unsettling when it happens. It feels kind of like I 'peed on myself', but internally, and higher up, near my left ovary. I'm 48 years old, and haven't had any prior gynecological problems. I haven't done menopause yet, and am taking the pill. Any ideas as to why I'm suddenly having these sensations?

There are many possible causes for your sensations and you probably won't know whats causing the problem until you have the problem evaluated by a doctor. Here's a few things to consider:
* there are very few nerve endings in the abdominal cavity and no nerve endings on the ovaries - there's no reason to assume that this is a gynecological problem at this point
* internal sensations in the abdominal cavity may be "referred" sensations where a condition in a tissue that has no nerve endings stimulates the nerves somewhere else - usually the closet place where there are nerves, which might be abdominal muscles or skin.
* the cause of referred sensations can be difficult to pinpoint
* pressure on nerve roots can cause sensations like you describe as a result of problems such as misaligned spine, damaged disks, muscle spams, or trauma.

I experianced similar symptoms and had a laparoscopy which reaveled polycystic ovaries! Go to some websites and see if you have any of the other symptoms related to pco! But I'd defanitly go and talk to a GP! Good Luck!! Hope alls well!

I would go the doctors and get checked out sounds like it could be an ovarain cyst. You will live but you just need to make sure it doesnt burst pain pain pain. I dont like pain so go get it checked out.
