I'm 39 and within the last year, PMS is getting insane. I get so depressed to the point of crying all day and wishing I was dead, the tiniest thing sends me into a fit of rage, I get anxiety to the point of panic attacks, plus I get clumsy and cramped.... and then in 3 days it's gone and I can't believe I behaved that way. I feel like I should sedate myself into a coma and stay in bed for 3 days a month!! What can I do? Any drugs, herbs, natural remedies, foods? Thanks

Welcome to peri-menopause. You aren't the only one. LOL

Have your GYN check your hormone levels. IF they are out of whack they can put you on hormones to even it back out. But if they are ok, then you'll just have to keep reminding yourself (like most of us)....that it IS just your period and it IS going to pass soon.

Oh, honey, how I empathize! Been there, done that. For me, the answer was having a heart-to-heart with my OB-GYN. I had been getting counseling and the therapist had put me on an antidepressant w/o even having me see a physician. It got so bad I don't even like to think about it - the rage thing is surprisingly enough a sign of depression, but I didn't know that then. I just thought I was losing my mind. Anyway, my OB-GYN (God bless him!) immediately got me off that anti-depressant and put me on another one that starts with the letter "Z" (don't know if I'm allowed to say it) and the difference has been like night and day - it even cured my irritable bowel syndrome! The moral of the story - get help, talk to your physician - talk therapy is good but a therapist has no business dispensing drugs w/o the advice of a physician. Especially with antidepressants, what works for one person might make the next person crazy. You must shop for the right fit, under the supervision of a good doctor. Good luck, hope you get some help.
