Not really, though I suppose your child would be dissatisfied upon figuring out that nothing was coming out of the pacifier. Personally, I have tried avoiding using one completely because I have seen too many bad experiences that others have had...so just be careful. (From working in preschools, I have seen children with malformed mouths JUST from pacifiers, and there are many children - my step-nephew included - who cannot talk and have developmental delays because the pacifier was in their mouths too long. My step-nephew just grunts and talks basically with his mouth closed because the pacifier was in too long.)
Anyhoo - just be careful. ;o)
p.s. There are always other ways to comfort a baby and then they don't learn that a pacifier is the only way. :o)

sometimes. 1. check to see if the baby needs a diaper changed, change if necessary. 2. give pacifier, if still crying try to give bottle but only if 2 or more hours have gone by. if the baby's cry is shrill and she is pulling in her legs and going kind of into a fetal position then she probably has colic. and no pacifier or bottle will make it go away and even then a bottle may make the colic worse. make some chamomille tea and put a little karo syrup like about 1/2 -1 tbsp. this helps the colic. hope i helped.

No, a pacifier can't tell you that. You need to keep track of how long ago your baby ate and if it was 3-4 hours, he is probably hungry. Babies do like to suckle. It comforts them.

oh whatever.. the pacifier cant hurt ur kid unless u let them have it until they're 5.
also.. if the pacifier calms them down, then no, they arent hungry, if they keep crying, obviously they are.. or need something else... the baby will tell you in their own way.

No your baby will tell you if hes hungry. If you go to put the binki in his mouth and hes still crying and spits it out he wants food. If you put the binki in his mouth and he sucks it witout crying than he just wants to be suckled!

ok when my son (who is 2 weeks old) is hungry he will start sucking on his fists and opening his mouth trying to find the nipple. if you have changed the baby and he has been burped, he will probably just spit out the pacifier if he is hungry
