My daughter is 8 1/2 months old and we are having the same dilemma. My husband came up with a great idea though! We are going to wrap large moving boxes like presents and surround the tree with them. We will also weight the boxes down by putting something heavy in the bottom. This way she can still pull up on the boxes but can't reach the tree, and she won't be able to pull the boxes down on top of her because they will be weighted down. The wrapping of the boxes is just so it looks festive :)
Good luck!

The fence is an option, but it's not very pretty. I'm sure you can find these at Babies-R-Us.
My daughter was 8 months old at her first Christmas. We put non-breakable ornaments at the bottom of the tree (still do, 'cause we have cats!), and wrapped a big empty box that was hers to play with. She pulled the bow & ribbon off probably 10 times before Christmas day! Being allowed to play with the one box was enough to keep her from destroying all of the others!

in the beginning your question made me lol. We did no longer submit a tree until our new child became into basically approximately 3 because of the fact we knew she does no longer be waiting to handle the temptation. listed below are some respectable recommendations reckoning on the dimensions. For a smaller tree (below 4 ft) you may placed it on a table. for an even bigger tree you may placed the completed tree interior a playpen or placed shielding infant fencing around the tree. it would seem cheesy, particular, yet according to hazard at night you may blur your eyes and revel interior the lights furnishings without the difficulty you presently have?

Don't touch the tree when your child is in the room, (monkey see monkey do)
Spend a day or two when everyone in the house sits near the tree but doesn't touch the tree. If the baby goes near the tree say 'be gentle' 'be easy' 'be careful' 'we don't touch the tree we look at it' 'play with this instead'
Put all ornaments out of reach.......so your tree is only half decorated, she'll be better next year.

Every time he/she goes near it say "no" in a very stern voice and then redirect. Soon he/she will know the Christmas Tree is not a play toy. My son is ten months--he's learning not to go near the tree but we always keep a close eye on him.

One year I bought a smaller tree about 4 1/2 feet and I put it up on a hope chest in my living room where it was out of reach and above her usual line of vision and it worked.

my tree goes in the living room and their was no other common ares to keep it in, so i had to wait until 2days before christmas to put the tree up. i hated to do it that way, but it drove me crazly to keep fighting him away from the tree everyday.
