Well at the peak of his career in the mid 80's Michael Jackson according to surveys at the time was the most famous celebrity in the world. But of course now I think Madonna is far more famous and popular. Like her or not she has stayed at the top of the charts for over 20 years now. I believe she is more popular than ever.

I would go with Michael Jackson on the basis of touring.
Jackson would sell out anywhere and everywhere that he could play within minutes.

madonna is more popular then michale bc of the fact that he is acuused of melestation and they are well both pretty famous.

i think michael jackson is more well known, he is a universal icon at this point. however at this point in time i think madonna has a greater fan base.
