It depends on where you live. Some areas are more expensive than others. But, yes, if you spend carefully and don't buy a lot of junk food, you should be able to get along nicely on $100 a week. Hubby and I spend about that much weekly and that includes food for three cats - and they ain't cheap! You might find it wise to allow a small cushion for the weeks there are really great deals on things you know you will need and use. I buy things like pork roasts that may be too large for one use, but cut half into pork chops and freeze them and make up the roast for a meal, with leftovers planned.

Planning a food budget is more than just planning your spending. It means looking for ways to save: that pork roast leftovers might go into a stir fry or with pork gravy over noodles. Look at the fliers, think what you like and plan shopping trips accordingly.

We're fortunate that we have three groceries clustered in a small area. I can shop the best deals from all three. Don't get hung up on one store, if others are around you. Shop the best deals wherever. And above all - make a list and FOLLOW IT.

Good luck to the two of you.

Depends on how many meals you eat and also how much meat you buy - That is what makes your bill go up the most. Better to budget more like $150 and have left over $$ then not enough. For the grocery you also have to figure girl supplies once a month, deo, toothpaste, garbage bags, dish soap, laundry soap. It's not just the food. I make the mistake of making big meals in the beginning of the month and then being stuck with cheapies like spaghetti for the last week. Budgets are awesome!!

Depending on what your diet is. If you are buying so you don't eat out at all during the week, I think $100 is more than enough. Also, if you buy all name brand goods (cereals especially) your bill will be alot higher than purchasing generic, or store brand foods.

My wife budgets around $100 a week, however we never come close to that. We spend around $75. The only weeks we reach $100 or go over is if we buy special items (having guests over, or preparing a special meal).

Coupons will help out a LOT if you have a set budget. Remember, $100 can only go so far, and coupons will help get you that much farther.

Buy what you regularly do per week. the next week, do the same thing but use coupons. See how much money you saved and have left over to use for more food or a christmas present fund.

I think it depends on how well you two want to eat every week and where you choose to do your shopping and eating out. $100 should be plenty and then some if you shop wisely. I guess it does depend on where you live too, as prices are different all over. But I honestly speak from experience- I've fed a family of 5 WELL on less than that for a week. And I mean, breakfasts, lunches and dinners AND sweets and snacks and treats.

We spend about $100 per week for the two of us and we eat well but if you drink and you are including that in your food budget you might allow a little more.

Saving money on meat.....purchase in bulk, and freeze parts one at a time. truly of shopping for a kit of fowl breasts, purchase an finished fowl and shrink it up your self. you could continually boil the factors you does no longer commonly devour (wings, decrease back, and so on) and use the inventory for stews and soup (this also freezes properly). Use lesser high quality cuts of beef for stews, casseroles, and so on. sparkling greens and fruit....purchase purely what you'll devour in a week, and attempt to purchase regionally grown products. also, devour seasonal end result and greens. Strawberries contained in the iciness are impressive, yet they are going to fee you 2-3 circumstances better than even as they are in season. Frozen end result and greens are also reliable, and carry their foodstuff cost extra useful than canned. develop right into a chit queen, yet do no longer purchase something you commonly does no longer purely because you've a chit. There are web pages the position you could print the coupons perfect at abode. also, Walmart has a cost adventure assure. in case you note something on sale at Kroger, Walmart will adventure the cost on a similar merchandise. All you would possibly want to do is take the Kroger (or the different substantial food market chain) ad with you, educate the cashier, and they are going to honor that cost. remember on save kind products. maximum are purely as reliable because the call kind merchandise. even as cooking, make adequate for 2-3 foodstuff, and freeze what you do not devour. this protects time and money.

My boyfriend and I spend about 200 dollars every two weeks on groceries. But that's if we shop at Wal-Mart. If we shop at Jewel, Kroger, Cub, or Schnucks... then it's more like 300 every two weeks.

Just depends on how what you eat and for how long you are shopping for. My bf and I put aside 200 for two weeks. And that seems to always be more than enough. Good luck.
