I personally used to get my back waxed. Although, the problem with waxing is it's super painful, and very expensive ($70/month) , and not to mention pretty embarassing.
I did more research, and laser is a interesting option, but is very expensive ($6,000) and if you get a dubious clinic they will set the laser on low and milk you for multiple sessions. Laser will not stop new hair growth and turns out does not work in many people.
Creams can SCAR your back.
I settled with a Razorba back hair shaver. It let's you do it yourself when you need to and is very inexpensive. They have a FAQ page on hair removal options also. Trying most other options I am very satisfied with the Razorba.

Laser hair removal is the best. It's expensive but if you've got the money, go for it. It's permanent so once it's done it's done. If you don't have the money for it, I think waxing is next best.
The only good thing about depilatories or shaving is that if you are lucky you can get that special someone to help you out.
Good Luck.

I used cold-wax strips at home for years and they finally discouraged those back hairs from returning. Also I wore tight cotton undershirts and this rubbed away hairs a great deal.
Laser removal is unreliable, results not permanent at all. New hairs keep appearing regardless of all those treatments and all that $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. I tried laser on my face and neck and what a waste and a false method. !!!!!!!!!!
Regular electrolysis is really PERMANENT, stings a bit - but so what???? SO WHAT?????
don't be a crybaby, take it like a man !!!! You'll have a smooth back in due time. Go with needle electrolysis.

The depilatories such as Nair or Veet can cause a chemical burn on some people. The hair might be too course to really work well. Waxing is painful and is difficult to master. laser is permanent and expensive. Electrolysis is permanent and painful. Sometimes it can cause damage to the pores. I used to shave my significant other 1-3 times a week. I used hot moist towels, good quality shaving cream and a new blade. It can be very enjoyable and break up the monotony of shaving yourself. Have a nice weekend.
