I am 25 years old and I have been off the pill for over 4 years. I have been with the same guy for 5 and he has a daughter from his previous marriage and miscarried with the previous marriage twice before. So, I feel the reason I haven't gotten pregant is because of my health. I do not get my peroid always on schedule, but I do get one which is usually very faint and only for 3 days and between 31 & 35 days. I have gone for testing for diabetes, to see if anything is blocking my tubes and a whole bunch of others. Should I look into a fertillity clinic? Anyones advice would be greatly appreciated.

I always recommend seeing a Fertility Specialist. I did and it worked for me. It could be something very simple that is wrong that won't take a lot of money to fix. It is worth the few dollars for the initial visit. Good Luck!!

Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... The only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything……the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

Don't be discouraged! I know that it nearly seems as if its a chore now because you have been trying for so long. I know exactly how you're feeling. I have been there. I had my period every 4 to 5 months or sometimes longer. It would last about 3 to 5 days. I thought it was due to some cysts rupturing a few years ago. I was told that's hard on your body. I went to the doctor and he told me everything was great. I tried for 2 years before just pretty much giving up. Then to my amazement I was pregnant! After having my son I thought that my cycle would become regular but it didn't. So, I did some research and found Ovulex. I started taking it and the next day I had my period. A month later, I found out I was pregnant!

At the bottom of the infertility section, there is a link on a relaxing fertility clinic in Barbados that is USA certified. There is also a forum on NewBabyJubilee.com where lot of women have the same problems. Feel free to ask them anything as everyone with fertility complications are welcomed. The staff at the clinic is really nice so check it out.

God Bless!!

I would recommend talking to your ob/gyn and seeing about getting a referral to an RE (reproductive endocrinologist). Your hubby needs checked as well, just because he has a child doesn't mean he isn't the problem. I got pregnant 2 years ago after 1 year of trying. I miscarried at 6 weeks. We kept on trying, telling ourselves that since we did it once we could do it again. Finally, 2 years later, we began testing and found that my hubby has an extremely low sperm count. You just never know. I would just talk to my dr and get a referral that way you get a good, reputable doctor.

Good luck!!

I would buy a book on fertility and conception to help you out, there is lots of good ones that explain everything on trying to conceive. I would also buy some of the ovulation tests to help you know when you are ovulating. You can also track it on websites like babyzone.com and webmd.com and they will help give you an idea as to when you should be ovulating. After 6 months of no luck after using the above items I would definitely go see a fertility specialist!!! Good Luck!

I would recommend a fertility clinic. Depends on how bad you want a baby. My husband and I saw a specialist for 2 years and finally got pregnant. If your cycles aren't normal, then it's a little hard to know exactly when your ovulating.

After 4 years of trying with no success, yes a fertility clinic would be in order.

I have irregular periods also and it took me a while but i got preggo without much help.

I bought some herbal stuff called Vitex. It helps straighten you out....maybe you should give it a try. I found it cheapest online. And I got preggo after a month on it.

If you don't chart your temps and stuff I would start now. Most Clinics like to see that stuff to help them get answers as to whats going on!

www.justmommies.com has lots of info that can help you!

Good luck hun!

i also recommend that you go to a fertility clinic. you could not be ovulating or u could be ovulating on and off...this can easily and cheaply be fixed with clomid which is a pill....it helped many people...so go ahead , give it a try.
