i want a sidekick adn am close to getting it but do you get free internet

No. Since you're sending/receiving over some provider's network, you really can't get around paying for a plan.

My friend has one. I think most people who buy sidekicks buy a plan where they get unlimited internet usage; the price is probably high but I guess if you use the internet/AIM/etc. a lot on it, it'd be worth it. Check out the plans on your cell phone provider's website.

No, you have to pay. You could get a prepaid plan and pay $30 a month for data services. For regular plans, if you have a voice service, you might get a slight discount-- but it's still close to $30 a month for data alone.
