First of all I do not think I would work for someone who does not have any respect for me. Like others have suggested I would talk to someone in management and tell them the situation. I would make sure to tell them that he does not believe you about being out sick and that he questions everything you do. If all else fails, you might have to find another job.

Don't cower and act insecure infront of this individual. Be confident (or project confidence even if you don't feel it) and don't allow him to see that he intimidates you. Don't ask for permission but tell him what you plan to do instead. Be polite and respectful, but not insecure and wimpy. Be proactive. Chances are, a confident demeanor will make this person feel insecure as he appears to be nothing but a bully. You don't have to allow ANYONE to take advantage of you in anyway. You have this power, whether you are the boss or not. It is a personal decision.

Good luck!

You dont!
Tell them you werent sick and that the voices in your head told you to shop for firearms those days. (Kidding!)
A job is a job. Get another one. You will not always fit in. I dont believe race has anything to do with it. Its just personalities. Slaves have to be sold, you are free to walk. There are plenty of jobs in George Bush's America! Just give proper notice, move on, and dont look back. Its not worth the grief.

Sounds like he lacks management skills and sounds like he is unaaproachable.

Talk to your HR Rep and they can talk to him in your behalf.

Good luck!

I would talk to either him or if you have a human resources department they should be able to help you out.
