I know the computer is a totally foreign object to my 84 year old mother. I only learned how to use the computer when I returned to college to complete my degree at age 40. I didn't grow up with computers and consider myself lucky to have the limited knowledge about computers that I currently have at my age.

My mother, her sisters, and her brother. They all over 70 (my mos is 75). In addition, my mother in law, who is 87. However, age does not imply lack of skills to use computers. I have a friend whose mom is 72 and she uses a computer, Internet, and the programs. She writes and publishes poems. Also, my cousins sons and daughter, who are in their 20's, are not interested in using or learning this type of technology, they prefer cell phones.

My father doesn't have the foggiest idea what is up with that - he's 75. My mum would learn I think, but about 2 years ago I had to teach her to use a mobile - and I'm exhausted;)
My professor refused to use all that modern machines;) But recently I've seen he got used to his mobile and even bought a computer!;)

I know a few. Most people these days have a basic understanding of how to use one, but just like illiteracy there are people who are technophobic and illiterate at the same time.
